Since before he was old enough to read, anything within reach became a drum. As a young child in Berkeley, California, Greenberg took lessons on both drum set and hand percussion and soon began playing with others, gigging with a middle school rock band and joining the esteemed Berkeley High School Jazz program. While in the Bay Area, he performed at famed venues such as Yoshi’s, The Fox Theater, The Freight and Salvage, The Black Cat, and Slim’s.
Greenberg earned a BFA from The New School's Jazz and Contemporary Music program in NYC, under the guidance of musicians including Amir Ziv, Buster Williams, Craig Weinrib, Chris Morrissey, Rolando Morales-Matos, Victor Lewis, and Mary Halverson.
Since moving to New York, he has performed regularly at local venues including Public Records, Mercury Lounge, Rockwood Music Hall, The Sultan Room, Union Pool, Jalopy Theater, Baby’s Alright, C'mon Everybody, and The Owl Music Parlor, as well as at countless venues across the country and festivals including Bern Jazz Festival in Switzerland, FreshGrass Festival, Grey Fox Festival, Luck Reunion, Nelsonville Music Festival and South by Southwest.
When he isn't making music, Pele can be found taking photos, cooking large amounts of vegetables, lollygagging here and dillydalying there.
